Crossroads Methven
Restaurant & Bar

In the centre of the Mt Hutt ski village Methven, you’ll find ‘Crossroads Restaurant & Bar’. It’s a relaxed, cosy environment. Pop in for a drink or if you’ve never experienced the melt-in-your-mouth flavours of food prepared by a Michelin chef, now’s your chance (booking in advance recommended). French chef, Gianni Caprici has worked with some of the best chefs in the world, including Philippe Charvin in France, and Nicola Lebec in Japan (where he also worked in Michelin two-star restaurants).

New 1 Star Michelin Chef

From Gianni’s divine European crusty homemade bread – Gianni is French - to a “nothing from the freezer” and “sharing is caring” approach to cooking, you can’t help but feel a little spoilt when you savour first mouthful. Gianni’s signature dishes are slow-cooked juicy roasts, seasoned with the most surprising flavours. Expect hints of Asian fusion, with sublime textures created using closed barbecue methods Gianni learned from the USA.
Try his slow cooked pork belly with juniper berry infusion, 24 hour slow roasted lamb with hints of apple cider and raspberry vinegar, tender duck infused with lime...Tasting is believing.  He also caters for those wanting something delightfully light, plant based or gluten free. Loved your main? Make room for his irresistible desserts (Mmmmm, the salted-caramel infused chocolate fondant is stunning).

Beer & Wine

We offer a wide range of beers and ciders on tap and a fine selection of bottles, featuring Independent Breweries with Asahi and Carlsberg on Tap, amongst other beers. Find a variety of non-alcoholic and low alcoholic drinks, along with all the traditional spirits, RTDs and a few surprises. Our wine list features many local wines of distinction and also a range of New Zealand, Australian and Italian wines.

“I couldn’t believe Gianni’s food.  It was without a doubt the best meal of my life. Don’t miss the opportunity to try it. You’re getting star quality food at bistro prices. Okay it’s not a fine dining establishment, but it was convivial, there was great service, and honestly, I’ll never forget the meal. Unforgettable.”
